These species require a light, breathable, and well-draining substrate that maintains consistent moisture without becoming waterlogged. This carefully engineered blend combines organic and mineral components to create an optimal root environment. The structure allows oxygen to reach the roots efficiently while excess water drains away, significantly reducing the risk of root rot. ### Designed to Support Strong Root Systems Healthy roots are the foundation of strong tropical plants. This soil mix supports stable root development by maintaining the ideal balance between moisture retention and airflow. The airy structure prevents compaction and encourages active root growth, which results in stronger foliage and improved plant resilience. The blend mimics the loose, structured forest floor where Anthurium and Alocasia naturally grow. This makes it especially suitable for indoor cultivation where drainage control is essential. ### Why Choose This Soil Mix? - Optimized structure for Anthurium and Alocasia - Excellent drainage to prevent overwatering - Promotes root aeration and oxygen flow - Supports stable moisture levels - Encourages healthy foliage and long-term growth ### Carefully Balanced Composition Universal substrate provides the nutrient base. Pine bark improves structure and airflow. Perlite enhances drainage and prevents compaction. Expanded clay increases stability and supports balanced moisture retention. Together, these components create a lightweight yet stable substrate ideal for tropical aroids and other humidity-loving houseplants. ### Suitable For - All Anthurium varieties - All Alocasia species - Other tropical foliage plants with similar requirements - Indoor plant collectors seeking structured, breathable soil ### Composition Universal substrate, pine bark, perlite, expanded clay. | Weight | N/A | | --- | --- | | Volume | 1 L, 3 L, 5 L | ## 4 reviews for Plant Nest Anthurium & Alocasia soil mix ![1580f744b92d51a398beeb7ab85e8537d802f1638a05877628fbfe819865bbb0](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/1580f744b92d51a398beeb7ab85e8537d802f1638a05877628fbfe819865bbb0?s=60&d=mm&r=g "1580f744b92d51a398beeb7ab85e8537d802f1638a05877628fbfe819865bbb0") Rated **5** out of 5 **Eva** *(verified owner)* – June 16, 2026 I was impressed by how airy and chunky this substrate feels. The mix combines universal growing medium with pine bark, perlite and expanded clay, creating a light yet structured texture that mimics the rainforest floor. My anthuriums and alocasias quickly adapted after repotting; the roots developed strongly and there have been no signs of rot or compaction. I used to prepare my own soil blends, but this one holds just enough moisture while allowing oxygen to reach the roots. It’s a reliable, well‑draining mix that has given my mature plants fresh vigour. --- ![b5abea77024026934cead285c908cb744086e280a6122b8bbf764920239e4556](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/b5abea77024026934cead285c908cb744086e280a6122b8bbf764920239e4556?s=60&d=mm&r=g "b5abea77024026934cead285c908cb744086e280a6122b8bbf764920239e4556") Rated **5** out of 5 **Matthijs** *(verified owner)* – June 29, 2026 My alocasia is usually a bit dramatic, but this mix seems to suit it really well. It stays slightly moist without feeling wet or compact, which is exactly what I needed. --- Add a review [Cancel reply](https://www.plantnest.eu/product/plantnest-anthurium-alocasia-soil-mix#respond) ## Related products [![PlantNest-strelitzia-soil-mix-plants](https://www.plantnest.eu/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Strelitzia-300x300.jpg "PlantNest-strelitzia-soil-mix-plants")](https://www.plantnest.eu/product/plantnest-strelitzia-soil-mix) [## PlantNest Strelitzia soil mix](https://www.plantnest.eu/product/plantnest-strelitzia-soil-mix) 6,90 € – 12,90 €Price range: 6,90 € through 12,90 € [Select options](https://www.plantnest.eu/product/plantnest-strelitzia-soil-mix) This product has multiple variants.
