Light

Place Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ in bright, indirect light. A well-lit position helps the plant maintain healthy, compact growth and encourages the development of new leaves.

It can tolerate slightly lower light conditions, although growth may become slower. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves or cause faded patches.

Watering

Water when the upper layer of soil feels dry. The substrate should remain lightly moist, but it should never stay permanently wet or waterlogged.

Allow excess water to drain completely after watering. Overwatering may cause yellow leaves and root rot, while prolonged dryness can lead to drooping or crispy leaf edges. Water less frequently during autumn and winter.

Humidity

Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ appreciates moderate to high humidity but usually adapts well to normal household conditions. Higher humidity can support healthier growth and help prevent dry leaf edges.

Soil and Fertilising

Use a light, well-draining substrate suitable for tropical houseplants. A mixture containing houseplant soil, perlite, coconut fibre or orchid bark provides good drainage while retaining enough moisture for healthy growth.

Feed with a diluted, balanced houseplant fertiliser approximately once every three to four weeks during spring and summer. Reduce or stop fertilising during autumn and winter when the plant grows more slowly.

Growth and Care

Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ has a naturally compact and self-supporting growth habit, so it does not require a moss pole or climbing support. Rotate the pot occasionally to encourage even growth on all sides.

Remove yellow or damaged leaves when necessary. Repot the plant when its roots fill the container, preferably during spring or early summer.

Important Information

Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ contains calcium oxalate crystals and should not be consumed. Keep it away from children and pets that may chew the leaves.
